Do you have to be a technology expert to volunteer
for Digital Sisters?
Digital Sisters has volunteers assisting us with various tasks
and projects. You must have some technology literacy to assist
us as virtual volunteer. Onsite projects varies
in skill levels depending on the project.
Do you have to be on site to volunteer?
No, we have several virtual volunteer positions
that are not onsite.
What are the average hours for volunteers?
Volunteer hours vary depending on the projects. One time volunteers
only volunteer for a few hours during the event day.
What is a Virtual Volunteer?
A virtual volunteer is someone that volunteers for Digital Sisters
but is not onsite at any of our programs. Some examples of virtual
volunteers are people who might do a press release for one of
our events, some one who might write a grant, some one who may
design a graphic or logo for us. There are many things that a
virtual volunteer can assist us with that does not require onsite
time.
Do you have one time events that I can Volunteer
for?
Yes, we occasionally have one time events when we need volunteer
assistance, some examples are congressional briefings, One time
youth program events and a seminar.
Do you give community service hours?
Yes,we work with schools to provide community service hours for
youth and interns.
Am I required to get a background check?
No, we will only ask for a background check if you will be working
with children.
Can I use my internship as practicum experience?
Yes, we must be notified that you want to use this experience
as a practicum in order to ensure we are following the guidelines
specific to the requirements of your school.
